Parola di bambini, 2025
An exhibition and research project, which explores the social role
of language from a transdisciplinary perspective. This third iteration has been realized by Hinrich Sachs, Giovanna Targia (translation), and Vera Kaspar (design printed matter).
A group of objects – items used and designated by individual children during play – was put on display in a former shed
at The Estate in Mesocco, located in a Swiss – Italian-speaking – mountain valley.
The selection for Parola di bambini [children’s discourse] reflects an ongoing study, with each item being presented in a few sentences, giving context to the respective play, in the given language of the exhibition location, here Italian. Furthermore, an Italian/English brochure was produced to document the group of items – the group of works –, which has grown to 35 since 2012. The research process is based on information from individuals, as well as artworks and children’s books.
Objects included in the Mesocco display were:
Dingdong (2016), Du Kuh [you cow] (2022); Geburtstagskerzen [birthday candles] (2018), Gyyge [violin] (2021), and Proiektorea (2022);
